Non printing space mark

Dots are formatting marks for Spaces and each dot represents position in text where you pressed Space Bar on your keyboard. One dot one space bar press. 2. What is Word's nonprinting symbol that is a small circle (looks like a" degrees" mark)? I haven't found this in other articles, web searches, forums. Is Non printing space mark a new version of" keep with next" ?

This Why would you want to display nonprinting characters in a document? Its easier to understand the spacing and layout in your document when these special characters are displayed. For example, you can tell when you have inserted two spaces between words or added an extra carriage return. But there may be times when you want to hide Words nonprinting formatting marks. Occasionally a new user of Word is alarmed to discover that his previously pristine document is full of strange symbolsdots, arrows, paragraphs marks, and the like.

Jan 30, 2010 I read that in ID CS4 it's possible to mark text as nonprinting (while still including it in a TOC). Unfortunately, that will not work for me because the things that I want to mark as nonprinting are not text, they are Autoshapes and Textboxes.
